The City of Tracy is About to Demolish This PERFECTLY SAFE BUILDING. After $80,000 (to date) in Agreed Upon Repairs it is arguably Now One of the SAFEST Buildings in Our Old Downtown. We have Jumped Through ALL of the City's Hoops and Agreed To ALL of their Requested Additional and Often Unnecessary Work. We Were On The Verge Of Final Approvals When, In A Closed Door Meeting, The City Council PULLED THE RUG OUT FROM UNDER US ! They Can NO LONGER use a supposed Public Safety Excuse for their Action - As the Building is now SAFE. But They're Going to Do It Anyway. Because THEY CAN. They tricked us into an Agreement that should have been easy to meet until the City Staff started and continued to throw up roadblocks and delays in what was a coordinated effort to force us to miss their unreasonable deadlines. It worked. And now these disingenuous Politicians and Bureaucrats Are Going to DESTROY a Perfectly Safe And Useable Building.
There is No Reason to Destroy this Safe building - And The City Council will not even Tell Us Why! It makes no sense - but they can still change their mind and allow it to remain as a Vital Part of the Downtown Tracy Core, and protect the Unique History of the City of Tracy.
And They Will Succeed Unless YOU HELP US. This is Now a POLITICAL FIGHT. If they can do this to Us as Private Property Owners, do not doubt that they can do it to YOU! There are at least a dozen other buildings in the Old Downtown that have the SAME Issues (uncorrected) that they Forced Us to Fix. And One of The Issues Was Caused By The City of Tracy when they replaced the Downtown Sidewalks a few years ago. That work appears to have been substandard and is Now Starting To FAIL. Do you have one of those "NEW" sidewalks in front of your property? We're NOT the ONLY ONES who are going to be impacted by the apparent lapses by the Building Department. HELP US STAND UP TO THIS TRAVESTY OR YOU MAY BE NEXT.
What can you do to help stop this Historic Building from becoming a Pile of Rubble? Contact your Mayor and City Council Members. They can stop this from happening and allow this property to come back to life! Contact information for The City are here.
